Lot: 178 Antique Louis Kossuth Sulphide Paperweight, New England Glass Company, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1840-1888. Cylindrical with slightly concave base, silver bust on colorless ground, polished pontil scar, ht. 1 3/4 inches, dia. 2 1/2 inches; (body has two surface bruises, the largest being 1/4 inch, light exterior wear). A rare paperweight with a detailed bust of Kossuth. Some examples of this paperweight have an inscription on the back which reads: "Ex Governor of Hungary set at Liberty by the People of the United States". Property of The Strong, sold to benefit the museum's collections fund.
